Carmela Pacheco served as Co-Executive Director for 37 years alongside her husband, Rev. Jose Pacheco until she went home to be with the Lord in 2009 after a long, hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Together, the Pacheco’s always had a vision to expand the current facility to provide space for more women and children. Our three phase building project is named in memory of Carmela. Currently, Phase I and Phase II are completed, which includes extensive upgrades to the existing structure, as well as new construction providing a computer skills training lab, a family recreational and visitation area, restroom facilities, as well as a fitness room, and a a wing with bedrooms, bathrooms, a common living room area, and two spacious dedicated classrooms, and a library space. The last phase will begin at some point in the near future and will cost approximately $200,000.00. We will keep everyone posted on the timeline for the initiation of the last and final phase of Carmela’s Dream.
